Euclid essays

Euclid papers Euclid Euclid of Alexandria is thought to have lived from around 325 BC until 265 BC in Alexandria, Egypt. There is almost no thought about his life. It was thought he was conceived in Megara, which was demonstrated to be off base. There is in certainty an Euclid of Megara, however he was a scholar who lived 100 years before Euclid of Alexandria. Likewise individuals state that Euclid of Alexandria is the child of Naucrates, however there is no evidence of this suspicion. Euclid was a typical name around then, so it was difficult to recognize one Euclid from another. That is the main motivation behind why there is mostly secret about Euclid of Alexandria. Euclid of Alexandria, whose main work, Elements, is a far reaching treatise on arithmetic in thirteen volumes on such subjects as plane geometry, extent when all is said in done, the properties of numbers, incommensurable sizes, and strong geometry. He was likely instructed at Athens by understudies of Plato. He showed geometry in Alexandria and established a school of arithmetic there. The Data, an assortment of geometrical hypotheses; the Phenomena, a depiction of the sky; the Optics: the Division of the Scale, a scientific conversation of music; and a few different books have been credited to him. Antiquarians differ with regards to the inventiveness of a portion of his different commitments. Most likely, the geometrical segments of the Elements were principally a revamp of crafted by past mathematicians, for example, those of Eudoxus, however Euclid himself is thought to have made a few unique revelations in the hypothesis of numbers. Euclid set out a portion of the shows key to present day numerical confirmations. His book The Elements, expounded on 300 BC, contains numerous confirmations in the field of geometry and variable based math. This book delineates the Greek act of composing scientific verifications by first unmistakably identifyin ... <!

Concentration of sulfuric acid

Centralization of sulfuric corrosive Unique My examination question, as the point states, is How might the centralization of sulfuric corrosive influence the pace of hydrogen gas delivered when it responds with iron? The explanation that I need to do this investigation is to demonstrate whether the impact hypothesis in Chapter6.2 of the Chemistry textbook1 is valid about the fixation will influence the pace of a response. What's more, I additionally did another expand analyze about whether the temperature will influence the pace of a response. After a ton of estimations, and investigation of the examinations information I got, my decision is the impact hypothesis isn't entirely reasonable on this specific trial. Presentation In Chapter 6 of IB science reading material about Kinetics, the components that will influence the pace of a response are Concentration, pressure, temperature, surface region and impetus. I need to pick one of these variables and demonstrate on the off chance that it will really influence the response rate and I pick the fixation. At that point I began to consider the examination that can show whether the convergence of the reactants will influence the response rate. Since my schools research facility is exceptionally restricted, so I can just do the analyses that are anything but difficult to work and won't utilize modern mechanical assembly. Along these lines, after genuine thought, I chose to utilize the iron respond with sulfuric corrosive, the equation is explained underneath: Fe + H2SO4 > FeSO4 + H2 The explanation that I decide to do this trial is that this trial can create gas and the instruments to do this test are anything but difficult to get. In Chapter 6 of the Chemistry course book, one of the procedures for estimating rate is an assortment of an advanced gas. Since the rate that the gas created can speak to the pace of the entire response, so I simply need to gauge how quick does the hydrogen gas develop. Improvement of the Experiment This investigation isn't as straightforward as it would seem that. The main way I use is let iron respond with various fixation sulfuric corrosive, and utilize a stopwatch to quantify the ideal opportunity for each extraordinary response to wrap up. In any case, after I check out of this technique, I discovered that for a response to totally stop will take hours or more, which implies along these lines burns through a lot of time, so this strategy isn't handy. The second way that came crazy is let the hydrogen gas been advanced to fill an inflatable, and perceive how much time it will take to let the inflatable to detonate. Be that as it may, as everybody knows, Hydrogen gas can consume, so when the inflatable detonates, it might likewise set off the hydrogen gas, so this strategy is too perilous to even consider operating. The last strategy I created is near great (I think), and it is smarter to be appeared by a photo: In the left piece of this photograph, the iron and sulfuric corrosive will produce hydrogen gas; the hydrogen gas will go into the container in this photograph through the elastic cylinder. Since the measuring glass in the center has been loaded up with water, the hydrogen gas go into the recepticle will start to push the water out of the container. Since there is another glass tube in the measuring utencil (you can see it in the photo), water will be drive into the graduated carafe in the correct piece of the photograph through the glass tube and the elastic cylinder. I simply need to quantify the ideal opportunity for a specific measure of water that has been drive into the graduated jar, and look at the time taken of each extraordinary response, I will know whether the fixation will influence the pace of the response. In spite of the fact that this technique is ideal for me, I despite everything committed an error when I was amassing the mechanical assembly together: As the photo above shows, this is the measuring glass used to let the response occurred. The slip-up I made is: The glass tube is excessively profound. Since the glass tube is profound to such an extent that the mouth of the glass tube is completely drenched by the sulfuric corrosive, hence the hydrogen gas advanced can't experience the glass tube, thus, the hydrogen gas drive the sulfuric corrosive into the glass tube! Fortunately, this slip-up isn't exceptionally difficult to address, I simply need to pull the glass tube out a tad, as the photo appears underneath: Trial Procedure Material and instruments: unadulterated iron powder, exceptionally focused sulfuric corrosive, gas gathering bottle, cone shaped carafe, balance, stop watch, graduate chamber, glass tubes and delicate elastic cylinders. Since the sulfuric corrosive I got is exceptionally thought (98%), so the primary thing I have to do is getting ready sulfuric corrosive which has distinctive fixation. Utilize the graduate chamber to gauge certain measure of 98% sulfuric corrosive. Utilize the graduate chamber to gauge certain measure of water. Include the sulfuric corrosive gradually into the water and utilize a glass mixes continue whisking the blend. I have rehashed these methods for multiple times since I raised the convergence of sulfuric corrosive by 10% each time, at long last I got 9 arrangements have diverse focus: 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, half, 60%,70%, 80% and 90%. Utilize the equalization to quantify precisely 5g of iron powder. Include the iron powder into the container on the left of the photo. Include the 10% sulfuric corrosive into the measuring utencil on the left of the photo. The hydrogen gas will press the water in the container into the graduate chamber and utilize the stop watch to gauge the time taken for the hydrogen gas to press out certain volume of water. Include the 5g of iron powder and 20% sulfuric corrosive into the left measuring glass at that point rehash stage 6 and 7. Include the 5g of iron powder and 30% sulfuric corrosive into the left measuring glass at that point rehash stage 6 and 7. Include the 5g of iron powder and 40% sulfuric corrosive into the left measuring utencil, at that point rehash stage 6 and 7. Include the 5g of iron powder and half sulfuric corrosive into the left measuring glass at that point rehash stage 6 and 7. Include the 5g of iron powder and 60% sulfuric corrosive into the left measuring glass at that point rehash stage 6 and 7. Include the 5g of iron powder and 70% sulfuric corrosive into the left measuring glass at that point rehash stage 6 and 7. Include the 5g of iron powder and 80% sulfuric corrosive into the left recepticle then recurrent stage 6 and 7. Include the 5g of iron powder and 90% sulfuric corrosive into the left measuring glass at that point rehash stage 6 and 7. Include the 5g of iron powder and 98% sulfuric corrosive into the left measuring glass at that point rehash stage 6 and 7. Information and Analysis From the table above, we can see an extremely peculiar pattern: When the centralization of sulfuric corrosive increment from 10% to 60%, the time is diminishing, at the end of the day, the pace of the response keeps accelerating; however when the convergence of sulfuric corrosive arrives at 70%, theres no response among iron and sulfuric corrosive by any stretch of the imagination! From the start, I can't accept what I saw, so I rehash the response among iron and 70% sulfuric corrosive for a few times yet in the long run lead to a similar outcome: Nothing occurred. At that point I search this abnormal thing among a great deal of books and sites, and this is called passivation2. Meaning of passivation: Passivation is the way toward making a material inactive according to another material before utilizing the materials together. For instance, preceding putting away hydrogen peroxide in an aluminum compartment, the holder can be passivated by flushing it with a weaken arrangement of nitric corrosive and peroxide exchanging with deionized water. The nitric corrosive and peroxide oxidizes and breaks down any polluting influences on the internal surface of the holder, and the deionized water flushes away the corrosive and oxidized debasements. Another regular passivation procedure of cleaning tempered steel tanks includes cleaning with sodium hydroxide and citrus extract followed by nitric corrosive (up to 20% at 120 Â °F) and a total water wash. This procedure will reestablish the film; evacuate metal particles, soil, and welding-produced mixes (for example oxides). With regards to consumption, passivation is the unconstrained arrangement of a hard non-responsive surface film that restrains further erosion. This layer is typically an oxide or nitride that is a couple of iotas thick. Systems of passivation: Under ordinary states of pH and oxygen focus, passivation is seen in such materials as aluminum, iron, zinc, magnesium, copper, treated steel, titanium, and silicon. Normal steel can shape a passivating layer in antacid situations, as rebar does in concrete. The conditions essential for passivation are recorded in Roubaix charts. Some consumption inhibitors help the arrangement of a passivation layer on the outside of the metals to which they are applied. Passivation of explicit materials: Aluminum might be shielded from oxidation by anodizing and additionally valorizing (in some cases called Anodizing), or any of a variety of comparable procedures. Also, stacked passivation strategies are regularly utilized for ensuring aluminum. For instance, chromating is frequently utilized as a sealant to a formerly anodized surface, to expand protection from salt-water presentation of aluminum parts by about a factor of 2 versus just depending on anodizing. Ferrous materials, including steel, might be to some degree secured by advancing oxidation (rust) and afterward changing over the oxidation to a metalophosphate by utilizing phosphoric corrosive and further ensured by surface covering. As the uncoated surface is water-solvent a favored strategy is to frame manganese or zinc mixes by a procedure usually known as Parkerizing or phosphate change. More seasoned, less-viable however synthetically comparable electrochemical transformation coatings included dye, otherwise called dark oxide. Nickel can be utilized for dealing with natural fluorine, because of a passivation layer of nickel fluoride. After we read the above clarification of passivation, the motivation behind why iron doesn't respond with concentrated sulfuric corrosive is truly clear: Because concentrated sulfuric corrosive is incredibly oxidizing, so as long the sulfuric contacts the outside of iron, it will shape an oxidized layer on the iron and this layer will stop iron and sulfuric corrosive being contact, therefore there is no response would happen. An Extend of the Topic It appears that this analysis could be end here, yet theres another thought came crazy: Since focus can't generally influence the pace of

Ways that internet has changed political interactions globally Essay

Ways that web has changed political communications all inclusive - Essay Example Normally at that point, political connections are no exemption. Web has changed the political association universally in various manners over the whole â€Å"life cycle† of a political applicant †from the manner in which constituent competitors connect with the majority for proposing their plans and for raising assets, to how they interface with the individuals once in power (or not in power), to how they define approach - both local and outside, lastly even to how individuals contradict the administration. Web, through its huge plenty of interpersonal organizations, news and data destinations/web journals has become a significant power in the political race process comprehensively †for data assembling by masses about the political plans, for showcasing and promoting of candidate’s dreams, and for raising support. The US presidential decisions in 2000 denoted the start of the dynamic utilization of web in the political race process as all applicants began opening and keeping up their sites. By 2004, sites began springing up and turned into a main wellspring of data and update for the individuals about the discretionary procedure, and ideological groups began utilizing the web to advance their candidate’s dreams. What's more, in 2008, web made it conceivable to defeat probably the greatest test of the constituent procedure †gathering little gifts cost adequately. Up to that point, it was considered too exorbitant to even consider getting the little donors’ cash and was frequently dismissed; the Obama crusade gathered an expected $300 million through little gifts made on the web and indicated how web could without much of a stretch beat this issue with the greatest expense in the process being the exchange charge on cards. The compelling utilization of web is likewise frequently credited for a moderately youthful and obscure Senator Obama proceeding to turn into the leader of the US. Web has additionally changed the manner in which legislators speak with the majority when all is said in done †for data scattering and conclusion gathering. It permits a fast cooperation

A History of Contention:Analyzing Parallels in the Rhetoric of the Religious Right :: Essays Papers

A History of Contention:Analyzing Parallels in the Rhetoric of the Religious Right One hundred and fifty-six years prior, in 1848, when the first Women’s Rights Convention was held in the peaceful town of Seneca Falls, New York, the idea that ladies were qualified for completely emancipated citizenship was a totally outside idea. Thoughts communicated and rights requested at that show, and at early women's activist shows sorted out all through the following seventy years, were viewed as strange. Testimonial rights, separate from rights, women’s property rights, and wedded women’s option to sign lawful agreements, control pay, or have lawful guardianship of their childrenâ€or themselves, for that matterâ€were responded to with lack of concern, best case scenario. Shockingly, one of the most vocal rivals of women’s rights was the moderate Church, who contended that women’s place, as indicated by Scripture, was in the local circle; to meddle into the open circle was to abuse her normal job and jeopardize her human spirit. Be th at as it may, strict conservatives’ safeguard of Biblical conventions didn't end with women’s rights: on the off chance that we take a gander at the probably the most petulant social issues of the over a significant time span, some fascinating equals exist between the terms utilized by fundamentalist Christians to oppose women’s rights, annulment, premature birth rights, and gay marriage. In every one of these discussions, the strict traditionalists utilized Scriptural thoughts of what is â€Å"natural† to oppose liberal social change. The Religious Right and its enthusiasts had been the essential nonconformists of women’s testimonial since the origination of the development. Scripturally, they contended, women’s jobs have been built up as docile to man, inferior; their natural job is to be reliant, powerless, minor, and devoted. The Reverend J. G. Holland stated that lady â€Å"was called into being for man's joy and intrigue †his helpmeet †to pause and watch his developments, to second his undertakings, to contend the energetically clash of life behind him.† Women were not to be trusted with significant good obligations, because of the shortcoming inalienable in their sex. For example, through the tale of Eve’s fall, Christianity has been established on the principle that lady is feeble and the wellspring of human underhandedness. As indicated by the Church ladies were neither expected to take such a functioning common job as testimonial would advance, nor would they say they were able enough to participate in such a special and basic urban obligation: what didâ€indeed what shouldâ€God-withstanding ladies think about legislative issues? It was on this strict premise that numerous ladies were really restricted to women’s rights.

Sex and Desire in Contemporary China Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Sex and Desire in Contemporary China - Essay Example China is experiencing a mind boggling advancement process in which modernization is altogether influencing the manner in which the Chinese people group collaborates explicitly. The fast change in the economy and culture has modified the sexual connections and wants in the general public. This paper will basically break down the progressions on sex and want during the rule of Mao Zedong and the contemporary society. Today, China has experienced different changes on their perspectives on extramarital undertakings. Infidelity and practices related with infidelity were named as results of private enterprise. In any case, infidelity was possibly perceived as an offense when it was polished by the lady (Sheridan 15). Mao Zedong was hitched to numerous spouses; yet he routinely manhandled little youngsters from the worker family. Nonetheless, he suggested for serious discipline for any individual who was found rehearsing infidelity. In the contemporary society, the globalization of the econ omy has prompted the post-upset sex freedom where the virtue of sexual relationship has been disintegrated. This implies the general public has confusedly encoded the ethics of sex and wants into the quickly changing social and market economies of the nation. Mao Zedong is known to have upheld for the privileges of ladies in the Chinese society. Be that as it may, he is known to have explicitly manhandled numerous laborer young ladies during his standard (Bullough 34). As indicated by his doctor, Li Zhisui, Mao is known to have contaminated numerous laborer young ladies with different venereal infections. Mao’s sexual wants were voracious, and he is said to have explicitly manhandled numerous little youngsters regardless of his polygamous marriage. This fundamentally advanced extramarital perversion in the general public. The men in the Chinese society explicitly misuse the little youngsters in the general public. Be that as it may, today ladies have their privileges in diffe rent issues including sexual issues. The contemporary society advocates for sexual fulfillment among the ladies. Besides, the law accommodates the discipline of the sex guilty parties in the general public. During the Imperial period, the lady was required to be accommodating and respectful to their dads, senior siblings, spouse and children following the husband’s passing. During Mao’s socialist time, there was freedom and unrest of the job of the lady in the general public (Bullough 12). In 1950, the Marriage Law was ordered by the People’s Republic of China (RPC). Notwithstanding, the law was not followed, and the job of ladies during this time was like that of the conventional Chinese society. Mao’s conduct and demeanor towards ladies additionally added to the disappointment of this law. In the contemporary society, the general public perceives equivalent rights for both genders. What's more, the law secures the enthusiasm of the lady in the general p ublic. During the hour of Mao Zedong, same sex connections were canceled and debilitated in the general public. Mao, a socialist who upheld for Marxist standard, named homosexuality as items private enterprise (Ruan 30). Gay people and lesbians were banished from the communalist network because of their sexual inclinations. In 1997, homosexuality was acknowledged in the general public. Furthermore, since 2002 it is not, at this point perceived as a psychological issue. In the Chinese government, different authorities, for instance, Li Yinhe, is a supporter of the lesbian, transgender, gay and cross-sexual individuals in the general public (Evans 56). Since 2003, the cutting edge Chinese government has proposed

American Politics

American Politics American Politics Home›Research Posts›American Politics Research PostsAbstractThis research paper will explore various articles and books that focus on American politics. The different articles have various distinctions on how they view the American politics. They also point out the problem with the American politics that is making the practice not progress rather just lag behind or a repetition with every new member who is elected to congress of what the one before him had done. Ronald Brownstein in his book refers to this as a second civil war and calls it the polarization of the American government and not its citizens. Another article by Peter Beinant points out that the American citizens are tired and angry with Washington and do not want to hear of them and yet again they can’t wait to elect new people (Beinart 31). The paper will show how American politics is power oriented and lacks progression toward the right path. Power is the ability of a person to influence others into doing what he/she wants. Power is selfish and non progressive. For political progression, the politicians aim at changing things from what they are to a better situation and it is not personal oriented.IntroductionPolitics is a common term used in government or in state run institution. The term though can also be used in other institution except the government. These places include companies and even also businesses. Politics is a situation through which decisions or policies are made by a group of people on behalf of others. In America today the game of politics is still ongoing and the problems that are arising are that there is no progression in the politics. It always the same story of who will be the most powerful as compared to the one who left, or who will make America a more superpower in the world. They totally neglect the progression of the country and in how they conduct their politics. This paper will demonstrate the problem with American politics. It will mostly focus on how politicians are more interested to be powerful than to progress and in how they conduct their politics.DiscussionThe problems in American politics are caused by political parties. Political parties are more interested to become more powerful that the other party rather than in serving the people. This is the case especially on the part of the senator. The election of senator to the congress should have remained in the hands of the state to appoint rather than electing them to the congress. This might have been seen as a progression toward democracy but it turned out wrong. Many senators are more committed to their political parties rather than to the state or to the people who elected them. They want to be more involved in making the party that they belong to more powerful than in serving the citizens of America. This is very selfish and it shows digressions of politics. The other problem being brought about by the political parties is how they change the beliefs and pri ncipals of candidates. Political parties usually take stands on issues so that they can lure people to vote their candidate into presidency. These issues include abortion, terrorism and also gun control. A good example is Al Gore, who was against abortion and gun control turned against his beliefs because he wanted to fit well with the Democratic Party with which he was running with as senator. He did not change his mind because he reflected on the issues and thought maybe he should be lenient, no he did so because he simply wanted to fit in. political parties are more power oriented rather than progression, from the above instance if we were progressing then a party should have given Al gore the chance to run on their ticket regardless of what his principles were. The same case happened with Joe Lieberman, who ran as a candidate for the party even against the people of Connecticut wishes.Political parties have become so power oriented that they no longer care about representing peo ple in the particular states (Hutson 14). In fact the state members have no say in what candidate they want. Most parties rely on donations from well wishers into their campaign these donations are made by powerful people to the parties and this same people get to choose the candidate that they want to represent them. Good candidates that may represent the states well and bring about political progression are left out because they have no party to support them in the election. Politicians no longer work independently, in fact they act as frontiers for what the party needs and yet the people thought they were electing an individual to represent them but they end up electing the party. For America to experience political progression it calls for a check on political parties, or rather maybe there should be introduction of more than two political parties so that the people are widely represented (Hutson 102). There have been formation of parties though and political interest groups. The se groups are mainly against what is happening in Washington and what they would like to see changed. The tea democratic party is one such party .the other thing that we can do is return the power back to the states rather than to political parties or make amendments to the 17th amendment in the constitution maybe then we can lean toward progress rather than power.Another root cause of political problem may be sprouting from the government intent purpose to control foreign governments so that they can demonstrate power. The government pays more attention to foreign countries than to its own citizens. Lately, the United States government has been involved in the Arab countries affairs for example, Libya. The American government has put some sanctions on the Libyan government. This has made it difficult for the Libyan government to solve its issues leading to a civil war. The American government wants to prove its political might all over the world. If it succeeds in Libya this shows that they are the most powerful and they can do everything. When they are doing this they are doing it at the expense of their citizens who are their back at home.As a superpower the American government feels that it is obligated to interfere with other governments on private issues and yet what they are really doing is destroying their own political progression. For instance, they have spent a lot of money on the Iraq war where dozens of American soldiers have lost their lives fighting a war which is not their own but because they want prove they are powerful they have done it at their expense. Families for the soldiers who are back at home often have the pain of receiving their dead family members knowing that it could have been avoided if they did not try to interfere with other foreign countries political crises. Therefore, if the American government needs to have political progression in their country they need to stop interfering with other countries internal affairs because i t will do more harm to them than good.Due to the American government trying to prove its political power in the foreign countries it has lost some of its allies who could have been helpful in the creation of political progression in America. Due to the involvement of the American government in the affairs of other government especially the Muslim nations, like Egypt and Libya, the American government has lost some close ties that it had with other Muslim nations which could have led to political progression in their own country by having good relations like trade. This could improve America both economically and politically and make stronger than when it is trying to fight everybody in the world (Brownstein 234). Therefore, before the American government intends to interfere with other American countries they need to reconsider the friends they are going to lose and could be helpful to them in other ways for example, economically. When the American government is trying to involve its elf in other foreign countries affairs they lose a lot of money in the wars of other countries and yet the money could have been used in own countries to do other things. With the country being hit by recessions this means that most of its citizens are suffering with ether unemployment or high standards of living. For example, a lot of money has been lost in the army due to the government involve in Iraq. The money that is being used by the army to involve itself in the Iraq affairs could be used by the United States government to try and save its country from recessions (Brownstein 244). Therefore, if the American government requires gaining political progression, they need to consider the amount of money that they are wasting so that they can prove their political power or superiority. One of the policies of the United States government as super power has to be fighting terrorism. Although they have a right to protect themselves from other terrorist attacks especially since the Sep tember eleventh attacks, the methods that they are using to fight these terrorists are not right. They are using a lot of force which is unnecessary and it is costing more than it is supposed. This is because it is happening at the expense of its citizens where they could spend that time and money developing other policies that will help the government both politically and economically. Additionally, the way they have concentrated in killing Osama, it has been like the obsession of every America president to prove that they are powerful. Due to this obsession, a lot of money is lost which could have been used in the creation of the economy of the country. In the fight against the production of the nuclear weapons, American country has been so actively in the war against the production of nuclear weapons leading them straining their resources. They do this because if another country happened to have nuclear weapons they fear that they might become more powerful than them. Due to this the different politicians in America are so keen in protecting their superiority. For example, Iran has been producing nuclear weapons. This has led to the American government so worried that the Iranian government might want to become superior to them or use those weapons on attacking America. It is because of these fears that the American government has been using most of their resources in trying to stop the creation of the nuclear weapons at the expense of their country and yet these countries like Iran might be producing these weapons for self defense purposes. The problems of politics are also greatly affecting the economy of the United States. There is so much politics present in the congress that causes delay in the progress of the economic recovery. The government is not making the right decisions and their efforts towards the recovery are not good. In fact other politicians have already foreseen an opportunity to use in their next campaign. Instead of helping the government deal with the problem that is affecting so many American citizens. This has always been common, because all that the politicians care about is to get power and not to help people or the country to progress. It would be good if the politicians tried to find out ways to control this route toward maybe another recession instead of just planning on how they will use the failure of the current presidency on solving this issue, so that they can lure voters to believe them and elect them to the white house so that they could solve the problems. This is not good politics and its not on the way to progression. The other apparent problem in American politics is the way politicians already start planning for succession of office even before the term is done. In fact most of them start as early as after the new government has just been elected and when things start not to work with the current government they start searching for new candidates. Take an example of today; the republicans are alre ady planning to use the democrats’ failure in office as their next campaign strategy. The fact that unemployment rates are increasing at an alarming rate and also the rise of fuel prices and the inability of the government to create job has created an opportunity for the opposition to penetrate to the white house. This is not good politics and it does not help the country to develop in the right direction, all that these politicians are thinking of at this point is to gain power and maybe after they are in power the same problems will also face them. It’s time we all raised a flag on the politics of today in America before we all perish in its game or we just may never have any say in what should be done in our country. Politicians should also make sure they have a change of the way they conduct their politics and the policies they put in place and how this policies are affecting the citizens. Political progression is about letting the people have their say and also properly repr esenting the needs of the people in the congress. Progression is about making people to be more interested in what politicians are doing rather than having people hate and dislike the politicians and wanting to have nothing to do with them or having to wait till they can replace them. Politicians should empathize with Senator Evan Bayh, who was strong enough to step down because he did not agree with what the congress stood for and its policies (Beinart 35). If we have more of these politicians then we are bound to have political progression.ConclusionTo conclude, this paper has displayed how politics of the modern America are conducted and the problems that this politics have. It has also shown how politicians are more concerned for political power rather than for progression. The route for the   problems is caused by the political parties themselves, especially on how they have managed to have more power over their candidates and on how they want the candidate to represent their p olicies and not those of the members of the state. The second display of political problems in the modern America today is how the government is more concerned with foreign countries at the expense of its own, mainly because they want to retain the position of them being world superpowers. The other problem is how their policies are causing economic problems for the citizens and the nature of politicians who are in the opposition to see an opportunity in the failure of the government and make it their campaign agenda. This problems in the politics of America need to be addressed so that we can achieve progression and to do this we have to shift from political power quest to benefiting the citizen and the country.

Culture and Environment in Vietnam - 550 Words

Culture and Environment in Vietnam (Term Paper Sample) Content: NameCourseTutorInstitutionDateCulture and Environment in VietnamVietnam occupies the eastern coast of Southeast Asia. Environmental factors such as political stability, technology and economic stability, support investments in Vietnam. Vietnam offers a favourable environment for firms to establish themselves. The country has a solid economic growth, political stability and a healthy competition, which support business in the region (Pecotich, A. 2006, 102). The states geographical position also assists in efficient transportation and trade among international trade centres. Favourable climate allows healthy growth of crops, which would support the juice making company. Sectors that assist investment significantly include ICT, education and infrastructure. These factors offer a supportive environment for healthy businesses (Harisson, A. 2010, 660). Besides environmental factors, a report on cultural elements also affects investment. Vietnamese people speak three langua ges based on the three Vietnamese communities; the Northern, Central and Southern. However, the country has made the effort of training people to speak in English, which enables easy communication between the country and foreign investment countries. There are a number of religious practices in the country which include Buddhism, Catholicism, Taoism and Confucianism (Cadiere, L. 1989, 98). Despite the diverse religions, they all assist in enhancing the behavioural aspects of the community. They provide a set of cultural values, which people implement in order to ensure respect for one another is maintained. Additionally, no religion bans the drinking of juice hence the organization is at an advantage. Based on social interactions, government controlled media and socialist cultural influences have greatly affected the social aspect of the nation. The government and the society shun adoption of foreign cultures, which may affect foreign investment based on cultural relations (Mcleod, M. 2001, 87). The society tends to live a spiritual life more than a material one. Their basic culture and religion enhances the spiritual life in the community and criticizes materialism. The Vietnamese value system establishes itself on four basic aspects: yearning for a good name, respect for other people, love for education and allegiance to the family. These stand as strong values, which assist in business such as dignity and love for education. In Hofstedes classification scheme, PDI in Vietnam does not affect business as Vietnamese are less powerful compared to Australia. Vietnam poses low individualism, that is, people feel less independent. In Masculinity dimensions, Vietnam possesses a high value of masculinity that aids in labour providence in the nation. Life Is Not What It Seems - 1474 Words

Life is not What It Seems Emily Dickinson, Countee Cullen and John Donne live different lives. Emily Dickinson tells listeners in â€Å"Tell All the Truth but Tell It Slant†, that they should live a happy life, instead of settle for only looking at the negatives. She does tell readers that humans are too infirm and she is absolutely right. Countee Cullen and John Donne are perfect examples of this in â€Å"Incident† â€Å"Yet do I marvel† and â€Å"Holy Sonnet 14† where they are suffering and weak. There is always a conflict or tragedy that crashes on people, and some people it is hard for them to get to a place in life that they want to be in. Some things people never get over it, and that is what makes them weak. In â€Å"Tell All the Truth, But Tell It Slant† by Emily Dickinson, she tells us to live life to its full potential. No matter how much one is struggling they should always live a fantastic life, because life is too beautiful to lose. The message of this poem is to not let weakness live vicariously through an individual. Also that the humanity cannot grasp the true beauty of life. Since individuals always focused on the negatives of things they are too fragile to handle what beauty life beholds. Individuals mourn they sulk and Emily wants them to move on from that. Database Security - 2976 Words

Databases introduce a number of unique security requirements for their users and administrators. On one hand, databases are designed to promote open and flexible access to data. But on the other side, it’s this same open access that makes your database vulnerable to many kinds of wicked activity. As the use of the Web grows on both Intranets and the public Internet, information security is becoming crucial to organizations. Now that it is extremely easy to distribute information, it is equally important to ensure that the information is only accessible to those who have the rights to use it. With many systems implementing dynamic creation of Web pages from a database, corporate information security is even more vital. Previously, strict†¦show more content†¦Table Access Control Standard table access control, if featured in the user authentication system, it is more important on Web applications than on traditional client/server systems. DBAs are often slack in restricting access to particular tables because few users would know how to create a custom SQL query to retrieve data from the database. Most access to a database on a client/server system occurs through a specifically built client that limits access from there. User-Authentication Security Authentication security governs the barrier that must be passed before the user can access particular information. The user must have some valid form of id before access is granted. Logins are accomplished in two standard ways: using an HTML form or using an HTTP security request. If a pass-through is provided to normal database access, traditional security controls can be brought into play. The HTML login is simply an HTML page that contains the username and password form fields. The actual IDs and passwords are stored in a table on the server. This information is brought to the server through a CGI script. This method has the advantage of letting the DBA define a particular users privilege. By using a table created by the DBA, numerous security privileges specific to a particular project can be defined. For every assessment there is a Code of Ethics we must sign and we must hold all testing materials utilizing security procedures. This means, that while we are held accountable for the content of the test and student performance, we cannot read the test, review the test or take possession of the test outside of the test setting. This will disturb the demonstration because it can cause confusion with communication between the different people and can cause them to be confused of the meeting and the information that they need to operate the business as taught. Language barriers can also cause rational replies and destructive sensitive replies. There are many approaches to aid everyone to improve a relationship with each other to help in conveying, execution, and growth. Other approaches consist of creating a bond, ask questions about their culture, opinion, and customs, and listen courteously to all persons to gain a complete understanding and knowledge of their views and their culture Conveying proficiently will let agreeing conditions between businesses partners become more easily. The win-win model would be the best form of a negotiating model for negotiating each set of partners. The win-win model entails agreeing on terms, both sides believing they have won. Conditionally, there are different types of coming to terms more efficiently. The key to coming to an agreement, there needs to be an agreed upon set of terms both arties understanding what the other party wants, without taking away from the initial goal. A conflict can possibly arise, if there is a conflict of interest or if one feels one way and the other individual feels another way. When conflict arises, it is very important to know that there is a conflict and a resolution is required. The outcome of a conflict can be either positive or negative. There are many techniques that can be developed to assist in handling conflict. It is important to know how important it is to satisfy your own needs and the needs of the other individual needs. To overcome conflicts, there are many strategies that you can use. Taking care of you and knowing yourself consist of understanding triggers and creating a better environment. The next strategy is to clarify the personal needs that are threatened by the conflict. To clarify the personal needs, means to be substantive and identify what the desired outcome of the negotiation process is. Find a safe place to negotiate is another strategy that consists of appropriate space to negotiate, appropriate time, and agreeing on the ground rules. Taking the time to listen ill help when conflict arises; because it will help you know what is being said by listening actively and help you have a clear understanding of what the other individual is saying. Specifically and clearly asserting your needs means to build from what you are hearing and using messages to clarify what is being said. Approaching flexibility and problem solving is a method for handling conflict and it means to find a solution or options identify the issues concisely and clearly, are open-minded, and to clarify what the criteria is for making the right decisions. Managing the issue calmly, patiently, and successfully will help to clarify any feelings, focus on the interests and needs, and to take a break. Also, implement and evaluate the issue and know what the cause was for the conflict and it will show you how to handle it if the situation was to arise again. Errors that can happen when negotiating contracts are very likely. Making sure when asking questions you leave the question open so the other party feels like they are being included. The other parties needs and expectations are considered, this helps them feel what they are proposing is not being disregarded. Self-defeating compromise is another mistake to avoid. This is cause from the fear of losing the deal or fear that the people you are negotiating with are taking advantage of you. Directing insensible messages is a no-no because it will show when a person is anxious or self-critical, the best thing to do is manage the problematic thoughts. Short term thinking will help to end the negotiating process fast and help gain immediate benefits. Talking too much is a mistake, because it can cause you to negotiate against yourself, rather than for yourself. When negotiating, you have to wait or pause and be informal able with being silent. Requiring face to face meetings is a mistake because it is best to negotiate at a distance. Negotiating at a distance will help come to a better agreement and it help an individual concentrate more on the high priority items by looking at the issues in an abstract way. Being too pasty is a mistake that is made by most individuals when negotiating because it makes things look desperate when you are trying to push an individual to say yes. Rather than push the individual to say you, you need to provide the individual what the chance to say not. How to cite International Business Communication Phase, Papers

Racism and Dawn of the Dead Essay Example

Racism and Dawn of the Dead Essay The day August 28th, 1963, tremendous amount of Americans were gathered in Washington. Black and white, young and old, they demanded the equal treatment for black Americans. The nation’s most famous civil rights leader, the Reverend Martin Luther King, was speaking: â€Å"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.† This day marks the historical moment of the massive protest against the racial segregation. African Americans have been treated unequally through the American history. Before 1970s, black people were separated from white people in any public areas; they had less right than whites. Same situation black people were facing in American film industry; black people have less opportunity to be on screen and they are nearly segregated from acting as the main character. For instance, audiences can barely find one black face in the 1930s film, Bride of Frankenstein. Or in the later 1975 movie Mandingo, black people were described as untamed monsters owned by masters that they â€Å"deserved† everything they got. But, a controversial American director, George Romero, does not let those prejudices root in his mind. He heirs black actors to be protagonist to fight these racial stereotypes. In an interview with the New York Times, George Romero describes his zombie films as â€Å"snapshots of North America at a particular moment.† Romero’s second zombie film, Dawn of the dead, is a good piece which appeals to racism. In Henry Powell’s essay â€Å"One Generation Consuming the Next: The Racial Critique of Consumerism in George Romero’s Zombie Films†, he indicates: â€Å"In general, the film (Dawn of the Dead) serves as case studies in the ways the thinking or acting of the previous decade has negatively affected our society in terms of marginalizing people and perpetuating inequality among the non-rich and non-whit

Winslow Homers Breezing Up (A Fair Wind) essays

Winslow Homers Breezing Up (A Fair Wind) essays Winslow Homers Breezing Up (A Fair Wind) Winslow Homers Breezing Up, located on the West Main Floor in Gallery 68 of the National Gallery of Arts, perfectly captures the beauty and splendor of nature and innocence. The painting, which was completed after three years of work in 1876, is displayed among the works of other oil painters including additional works by American and naturalist painter Winslow Homer. In this painting, Winslow Homer depicts a man with three boys in a small wooden sail boat that is riding along the choppy waters. At the center of this painting is the stern or rear of the boat. The oldest of the boys is sitting on the far end of the stern with his knees up and his bare feet planted firmly on the deck. Although the subject is directly in front of the viewer, Homer uses a slightly diagonal linear perspective that goes from the rear of the boat to the right and distant horizon. It is this boy, not the man, who is steering the boat almost effortlessly with one hand on the line. His face is turned slightly away from the viewer, yet Homer adds so much detail using line and color to accentuate the boys chin, left cheek and eye. Throughout the artwork, Homers use of lines is only hinted at by the detailed contours of the figures and boats themselves. These detailed features stand out greatly against the thick layers of puffy clouds, painted with thick and loose brush strokes, which linger over the water. The use of expressive lines is also hinted at in Homers ability to recreate curves just as they would appear in nature, such as the shape and form of the rolling waves in the sea and the clouds hovering overhead in the sky. Winslow Homer also uses the technique of line of sight, in which lines are created from the two boys on the left and their father looking to the sail while the boy steering the boat is looking towards the shoreline, their destination. Implied lines may also be app...

Chinese Character Profile for æ©

Chinese Character Profile for æâ€" © æâ€" © (zÇŽo) means early in Chinese. It is often used in morning greetings. Both  Ã¦â€" ©Ã¥ ®â€° (zÇŽo Ä n) and  Ã¦â€" ©Ã¤ ¸Å Ã¥ ¥ ½ (zÇŽo shang hÇŽo) mean good morning. In Cantonese-speaking areas, æâ€" ©Ã¦â„¢ ¨ (zÇŽo chen) is how people say good morning. Sometimes, just a quick  Ã¦â€" © is a colloquial way of saying good morning. Other Chinese words or phrases that include the character æâ€" © usually have to do with the morning or being early. For example,  Ã¦â€" ©Ã© ¥ (zÇŽo fn) or  Ã¦â€" ©Ã© ¤ ( zÇŽo cÄ n) both mean breakfast.æâ€" ©Ã¨ ¡ ° (zÇŽoshuÄ i) and  Ã¦â€" ©Ã¤ º § (zÇŽo chÇŽn) mean premature aging and premature birth respectively.   Radicals The Chinese character æâ€" © (zÇŽo) is made of two components. The top element is æâ€" ¥ (r à ¬), which on its own is the character for sun. But æâ€" ¥Ã‚  is also a radical, called the sun radical or also identified as radical #72. The lower element of the character is  Ã¥ . This looks like the modern Chinese character for the number 10,  Ã¥ (s hà ), but that is not what this element is alluding to. Character Breakdown The symbol Ã¥ is an old form of ç” ² (jiÇŽ). Now,  Ã§â€ ² means â€Å"first† or â€Å"armor.† Thus, æâ€" © is a pictogram of the sun rising over a soldier’s helmet.  Therefore another way of interpreting æâ€" © (zÇŽo) is â€Å"the first sun.†Ã‚   Pronunciation æâ€" © (zÇŽo) is pronounced in the third tone, which is often described as the falling-rising tone. When you pronounce the syllable, make the pitch go down low and then bring it back up high. Mandarin Vocabulary with ZÇŽo Pinyin Characters Meaning ZÇŽo Ä n æâ€" ©Ã¥ ®â€° good morning ZÇŽo fn æâ€" ©Ã© £ ¯ breakfast ZÇŽo shang æâ€" ©Ã¤ ¸Å  early morning ZÇŽo xiÄ n æâ€" ©Ã¥â€¦Ë† previously; before ZÇŽo yÇ æâ€" ©Ã¥ · ² long ago; for a long time

Depression and Amputees Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Depression and Amputees - Research Paper Example 4): Persistent sadness, anxiousness, or feeling of â€Å"emptiness† Sense of hopelessness and/or pessimism Perception of guilt, worthlessness, or helplessness Irritability and restlessness Absence of interest in activities and hobbies (including sex) Problems in concentration, remembering, and in making decisions Insomnia, wakefulness, or excessive sleeping Overeating or loss of appetite Suicidal tendencies and thoughts Pains, aches, cramps, headaches, or digestive problems that do not ease even with treatment The National Institute of Mental Health emphasized that not all people with depression experience all the symptoms of depression. Further, depression can be major depressive disorder, dysthymia, psychotic, or seasonal (p. 3). The World Health Organization classified depression as â€Å"among the most disabling clinical diagnoses in the world, estimated to affect nearly 340 million people worldwide, and 18 million people in the United States at any one time† (Grede n, 2001, p. 5). Taking self-concept as a possible determinant of depression among the handicapped, Akram and Naseem (2010) investigated the level of self-concept among handicapped persons. The researchers used sample sizes derived through stratified sampling to limit possible error at 5%. They found that self concept â€Å"depends upon age, gender, occupation, and education level† (Akram and Naseem, 2010, p. 84). The researchers reached the conclusion based on their interpretation of one and two-sample t-tests, Chi-square tests, and test of significance of the correlation coefficients. In contrast, Mozumdar et al. (2010) investigated whether depression among persons with lower extremity amputation (LEA) is really higher than the general population. The investigators found that â€Å"the depression levels of the LEA also were not associated to most of the physical health factor† (Mozumdar et al., 2010, p. 887). The Mozumdar et al. (2010) conclusion was based on a sample of 85 amputees out of an original target of 1,000 amputees. A low sample was realized because only a few agreed to give their informed consent. Using a sample of 56 Jordanian patients with â€Å"unilateral lower limb amputation† with mean duration of 8.4+/-5.75 years, Hawamdeh et al. (2008) assessed the prevalence of anxiety and depression among them and found that 63% (N=35) were normal while 37.5% (N=21) were â€Å"abnormal† (p. 629). Originally, 92 amputees were recruited for their study but the investigators reduced the respondents to 56 because failed to contact 25, 6 amputees did not consent to participate in the study, and 5 amputees were excluded because they did not respond to some parts of the questionnaire (Hawamdeh et al., 2008, p. 628). Hawamdeh et al. used a questionnaire that included clinical data that can indicate produce anxiety and depression scores and the participants â€Å"were fully informed about the nature of the study procedure and consent w as obtained from each subject before participating in the study† (p. 628). The study of Nachitz and Lenger (2008) is important because it clarifies that traumatic leg amputees are at greater risk for cardiovascular disease other than depression. Bhuvaneswar et al. (2007, p. 304) revealed that â€Å"posttraumatic appears to be more common in amputees following combat or accidental injury, whereas general rates of PTSD are 20 to 22% in

Interpretive explication essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Interpretive explication - Essay Example He was accused of stealing a deer. Shakespeare worked in London as a bit actor and member of a theatrical company headed by Richard Burbage that presented plays at the Globe and other London theaters. He was also an associate of a jolly group of men whose revels at the Mermaid Tavern were as famous as their escapades. He had a friend in the person of the Earl of Southampton to whom he dedicated his early poems. â€Å"His real dramatic work began when he was twenty-seven and which extended over a period of twenty years. He made an average of two plays yearly, in addition to his poetry. Because his dramas were popular, he made enough money to retire to Stratford-on-Avon† (Cross, Smith & Stauffer, 1931). On May 4, 1597, he bought large dwelling – a pretty house of brick and timber, with a handsome garden – an indication of his growing prosperity. There his wife and children lived, while he buried himself in the London theaters. On April 23, 1616, the anniversary of his birth, William Shakespeare died and was buried on April 25 within the chancel of Trinity Church, as befitting an honored citizen. On August 6, 1623, a few months before the collected edition of Shakespeare’s plays, Anne Shakespeare joined her husband in death (Wright and Lamar, 1967) We shall now endeavor to provide the reader with a brief paraphrase for the above sonnet, giving an interpretation of its fundamental meaning. The poem starts out with a beautiful but melancholy description of Autumn – a season of the falling of yellow leaves – few or none at all. The scene is made more dismal with the absence of the sweet songbirds that have perhaps flown away or perished due to the cold. The poet then addresses the beloved, saying: â€Å"In me, you see the autumn of life, the twilight of day which will soon yield to night. Seeing this, your love is strengthened for one whom you must soon lose (THESIS). We digress at this point to

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms and Treatment Essay example --

In 1980, the term Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) first came into existence in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Third Edition (DSM-III). Only in 1987 did the DSM series make reference to traumatized children. The first major studies of the effects of large traumas on children were Bloch's 1956 study of the effect of a tornado in Mississippi, Lacey's 1972 study of the effects of an avalanche on a Welsh school, Newman's 1976 work on the Buffalo Creek disaster and Terr's 1979 research on the Chowchilla bus kidnapping. Psychological "trauma" is defined by the American Psychiatric Association as an experience beyond "the range of usual human experience," that "would be markedly distressing to almost anyone, and is usually experienced with intense fear, terror and helplessness" (DSM-IIIR, p. 247). Some examples include a serious threat to one's life (or that of one's children, spouse, etc.), rape, military combat, natural or accidental disasters, and tortur e. Sexual activity with an adult would be an example of a traumatic experience for a child. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as previously defined, is caused by an overwhelming event outside the range of ordinary human experience, such as combat, a natural disaster, or a physical assault. The symptoms include nightmares and other forms of re-experiencing the traumatic event, avoidance of situations and activities that arouse memories of the event, emotional numbness and detachment, pessimism, sleep problems, impulsive anger, jumpiness, and difficulty in concentration. There are many symptoms but there are also many affects to the functioning of an individual. The functioning defects can send an individual into crisis.
